In this new contract position, you will play a critical role in creating and enacting an appropriate application of the OLA’s new strategy to achieve the goal of strengthening and securely branding the OLA’s profile.

You will provide a leadership role in developing and implementing projects in the areas of, communications, fundraising, donations and other forms of revenue generation.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Effectively cultivating, soliciting, managing and stewarding fundraising programs to ensure maximum outcomes while ensuring the goals and objectives of the OLA are adhered to. Develop a calendar of annual fundraising events and activities. Develop online donation tools and create a program for annual / repeat donations.

Work with Board of Directors to develop a means of effectively strengthening and communicating OLA’s brand so it is viable and has a high level of recognition. Develop a creative strategy that promote the mandate of the OLA and directs the public seeking more information on the OLA to the web site.

Required Skills and Attributes:

  • Knowledge of the business and philanthropic community (corporate, high society, media and foundations etc.).
  • Demonstrated evidence of an ability to prepare and implement plans that are measured by outcomes.
  • Computer literacy especially with online resources (internet), spreadsheets (Excel), word processing (Word) and power point presentations including fund raising software.
  • Demonstrated evidence of being able to influence others including an ability to build good relationships with others who may not be receptive.
  • Previous work experience and knowledge in the political arena would be an asset.
  • A university degree or college diploma in communications, public relations, marketing or a related field would be an asset but not necessary as hands-on experience, capability and ability to develop successful programs that produce obvious results is more important than educational background.
  • Valid work experience spanning all aspects of communication - including fundraising, related communications, advertising, special event development & management, sponsorship, media relations, online communications and social media strategies, and publications.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of marketing & communications theory and practice, as well as fundraising principles, strategies and practices.
  • Excellent communication skills including verbal and written communications and presentation abilities.
  • Travel to meetings and other events as needed will be a requirement.

The appointed individual must be willing to develop and manage a home office with a strong ability to work alone with self-discipline and to perform under pressure with a willingness to work during periods of extended hours including some weekends and evenings as necessary.
