Gilles Legros vs. the OSPCA. More OSPCA Abuse of Power and Authority

March 2/2009 - Gilles Legros of Dundas county called the OLA for help on Feb. 18. The OSPCA from Cornwall - Bonnie Bishop - with two OPP enforcers and the Township By-Law enforcement officer arrived at his farm property on Feb. 17 where he and his wife are operating a dog breeding facility and wrote several orders, including one to clip the dogs toe nails. Bonnie Bishop was disrespectful of the Legros family. The OLA recommended that he have his veterinarian check out all his dogs and horses the next day and give him a report on the status of their health and the care that he provides for his animals. The veterinarian said that the animals were all healthy and well cared for.

On Feb. 17, members of the Stormont-Dundas Landowners Association met Gilles Legros and his wife and inspected their animals and his facilities and found the animals to be healthy and well cared for. The OLA committed to supporting the Legros family in their impending battle with the OSPCA and Bonnie Bishop. On Sunday Feb. 22, Bonnie Bishop and three of her OPP enforcers returned to further harass the Legros family with "revised orders" that had a 48 hour "compliance restriction". This action by the OSPCA has nothing to do with the humane treatment of animals which is their legislated mandate. It is only about their "self-defined ethical view" on how many animals a person should own without any consideration of the humane treatment of the animals. The significant influence of the animal rights groups is obvious. Even the OPP are in the OSPCA pocket. And by default, the government is in their pocket because they choose to turn a blind eye to these flagrant abuses of people. This intolerable abuse of people by intimidating bullying enforcement officers of a government agency must be stopped. There will be an OLA action soon to have the OSPCA judged in the court of public opinion. The OLA encourages everyone to write/email Premier Bowser McGuinty.
