The First OLA Wave of Protest Hits MPAC Head Office in Pickering on Friday 13th
February 15/2009 - The Ontario Landowners Association(OLA) and 300 members descended on the head office of the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation in Pickering at 11.00 A.M. on February 13, 2009 to voice their frustration and anger over the grossly unfair system of assessing the market value of private properties. Senior citizens, low income families and young families will too often be faced with an unbearable property tax burden. The OLA has begun a series of "town Hall" information meetings across Ontario to tell property owners to stand up and fight back by filing en mass "Requests for Reconsideration". There will be a continuous wave of "Requests for Reconsideration" flowing onto the shores of MPAC from now until March 31.
