Marlene’s Story

Remembrance Day this past month, was again a time to give thanks and a time to reflect on what it means to “serve our country”, to “fight for our country” and to “die for our country”. Those soldiers who witnessed what happens to people when tyranny rules fought long and hard so that the children of the future would live in a free country.

We are very fortunate now living in Canada, that most of us are not fighting a war. Our soldiers travel the world to protect our freedoms and fight against dictators and tyrants who would be happy to see us dead. Because of this, our day-to-day lives are mostly pretty predictable, safe and free from the horrors of war.

The Landowners attended a meeting some time ago, where a city councilor, near the end of the evening, addressed the crowd of restless, angry citizens, each with a story to tell of government abuse. His words haunt me. He said that about 85% of all the bylaws that his council passes are against the law and if challenged in court, would be thrown out. We were all dumbfounded and asked among ourselves, how does this happen? Well it happens because no one stops it. In Ottawa, you can be fined for having a freezer on your porch. Excuse me! It’s my freezer and my porch. How dare any council pass a bylaw that makes that illegal? What next? If council can on any whim, pass a bylaw that is unconstitutional and illegal, what are the citizens to do? No one can know all the laws. There were 500,000 plus bylaws and regulations in Ontario, at last count. It’s a lot of hassle and money to challenge every law that just seems wrong, so the fines are paid, and the anger simmers.

The real question I have for people in a position of power, a position to improve things and make aggressive bullying enforcers, enforcing ILLEGAL BYLAWS, a thing of the past, is why aren’t you fixing it? Why are you ignoring real problems, hiding behind fancy dinner invitations, opportunities to cut a ribbon and shake some important hands? When hard working people are suffering under the weight of fines, courts, harassment, threatening letters, and hassle because they have broken an unconstitutional, illegal bylaw, we know that we have a problem.

It has been since 2003 that the Landowners have been sharing stories of abuse, writing letters to politicians, to the newspapers and speaking on television about the bullies on the payroll, the agencies without oversight harming their citizens…but what do we get? Form letters, platitudes, smiles, meetings, and bad media, while the harassment continues. Even though we own our land, pay the taxes on it, plow our fields and harvest our grain, there is this growing sentiment that “our land is also someone else’s land” and they, who preach from cement towers, will tell you what you can and can’t do on it. It’s time to say …“Give me your card, now get off my land…and I’ll see you in court”.

An old Italian friend of ours said to us recently, “you’re going just the way of Italy, you’ll have no farms left”. Slowly, methodically, our government is whittling away at our freedoms, telling us what we can and can’t do on our property, stealing our land acre by acre in the name of whatever the whim of the day is. The only thing missing is the tanks.

How appropriate these articles are that describe in one way or another, how “the powers to be” are taking over our rights … funny thing is that “we” have the solution right in front of us for ALL these things that we feel are wrong and would change instantly if we could!
The power we seek is in the voting booth – but first you have to have the will to find out what is really going on – for example – you have a proposed candidate for elected office; and he or she says that they will accomplish such and such and like sheep, we vote them in and nothing happens! Surprise, surprise, and it makes no difference if it is Provincial or Federal and most municipality elections, they are all “directed” from PARTY POLITICIANS. If any of you think that you can join the system, and vote the way your constituents want you to vote, then you are sadly mistaken! THEY ALL are forced to vote the “Party Line” of thinking and whatever was promised before the election is of no importance to the overall wishes of the unimportant constituent, and we continue on with this election after election.Don`t forget that the saying “those who do not learn from history; are doomed to repeat it”
The answer ladies and gentlemen is really quite simple – know what you want from a politician, obtain his/her promise to accomplish your wishes and HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE !
If we did it right, we would demand that ALL our politicians will be able to vote as independents only, and party politics would be outlawed. If any elected official votes against what their constituents want, then a very simple recall and removal from office (firing) of elected official would straighten things out very quickly.Guess what would happen, we would actually have decisions made by a majority (democratic) system; instead of what we really have now, which does not work.
It is up to us to make ourselves knowledgeable, and all elections should have a line item which says “none of the above”.
If the non of the above line gets the most votes, then they have not listened to the people and must do it again, until the majority wins!
This would forever take away anyone saying,”I don`t vote, because my vote won`t change anything.
By the way, those who wish to shut up people like us who care, and make ourselves knowledgeable promote the “no discussion on politics or religion” rule – two of the most important things that affect all of us ! The only way they can continue to control us is the “mushroom principle” -keep them in the dark and feed them …………!
It is up to enough of us demanding what we want and ensuring that they actually do it, and carrying through on removing them if they do not. Every single elected official, starts right off from the beginning of his or her term by figuring out what they have to do to stay in office for the next election. If they want help and money for expensive elections, then they have to follow the party line or they are punished and basically ostracized and usually are “replaced” by a more party favorable candidate.
The ball is now in our court ladies and gentlemen -talk this up, spread the news; because the average voter knows “non” of what you have just read !

On the Oak Ridges Moraine, by-laws aren’t the problem. All three parties passed the Oak Ridges Moraine Act / Plan after being lobbied by a particular block of voters in 2001. In the Act they gave the municipalities on the moraine, carte blanche to interpret the plan with limited direction & impunity from any appeals / lawsuits.

Some of us are just realizing now what they did to the property owners, as they neglected to notify each landowner of the changes they made & what it meant for their property rights.

Great post Marlene…well said. We have two very influential political people who have openly called what Harper has done to our country, TREASON. Paul Hellyer was the Deputy Prime Minister under Trudeau and at a protest march in front of the Parliament Buildings on June 1st, 2013, he called Harper’s actions, secrecy and selling of our rights and country down the toilet, including the dumbing-down of our Bank of Canada, (which, until Harper started tampering with it, was owned entirely by the people of Canada, not by private corporations). Elizabeth May, leader of the Green Party recently wrote an open referring to the treason happening before our very eyes.

When you look at what the province of Ontario did with our land registry system, MPAC, with the approval of GMOs without any environmental assessments and so on, you see treasonous actions everywhere.

I truly believe we need a Great Canadian Uprising…people need to get out into the streets, march to Parliament Hill and demand this government step down. And we need to do the same for our provincial government. It may be too late, but better late than never. Harper has not only allowed another country to spy on it’s citizens, it has allowed the US to spray us with aluminum, toxins and microplastics, among other things…every single day, all day and night for years. Those lines in the sky are killing us, our land and our waterways.

Great true story Marlene. My extended family were 80% involved and I can,t help remembering what my father and uncle who fought so hard said before they passed. My Dad said the tyrony now is the same as NOW and the only thing that made the nazi think was a 75 in their face as that changed their mind quickly. My uncle who witnessed my Dad fighting said he can,t believe he lived. As my dear uncle was in declining years and his passion was hunting I notied his trunk lid open and warned him his rifle and shotgun was in view and the liberals had brought out gun laws. He looked at me and thru clenched teeth I heard fu– Trudua! He passed shortly after. In memory Fort Garry Heavy Tank & Artillery—Saskatewan Rifles–Winnepeg Riffles–Third RCR–ETC> All wo fought so hard for our freedoms
